Have you ever been through something chaotic?
I mean universal chaotic themes like death, birth, moving, aging parents, sick family members? It really messes with you. Especially your health, even if you are not the sick one!
When I was in my 20’s I lost my mother and was one of her caretakers during her terminal illness. I was a very active, wheatgrass drinking youth who find herself completely immersed in this new role of caretaker and entrepreneur. I didn’t notice it at all, until the very end that I had totally abandoned my eating and health habits.
Experiencing this and seeing myself now on the other side has made me take a deeper look at my business and who I am serving. When I speak to the guests that I serve through weekly meals I realized many of them are experiencing one of these universal chaotic moments.
So I took out the power washer and reinvented what Meals by Mayari stands for with meal prep. We stand for:
- creating meals that nourish you deeply either through a custom menu or with our seasonal rotating menu.
- cultural authenticity– because you want abuela’s rice and beans when your having a bad week not a new school experiment.
- scratch made food because honestly, I couldn’t call myself a chef doing it any other way.
- love, because even though it sounds corny you can taste when something isn’t made with it.
- community, because when you need support and no one is close by enough to help you we want you too know we are here for you.
